Xtreme Calorie Burner! Tour of the High Desert, Nevada

Reno is a scenic delight in the summer with the trees and flowers in full bloom contrasting with the dry rocky desertscape. This route is a favorite as it ventures between both landscapes, climbs, descends and ultimately follows the winding Truckee River into downtown. This is a fun ride; the scenery is always changing as the road moves from urban to suburban to rural. The sun is high and the skies are as blue as they can be! Have a great workout!

Many of us die hard hammer heads forget to train in the green. Every ride becomes a hammer fest and despite our swearing to slow it down, our egos take control! Is this just me? The Extreme Calorie Burner series focuses on working in the aerobic zone providing our bodies the opportunity to metabolize fat (aerobic) instead of burning the nutrients in our cells (anaerobic). This does not mean, however, that we can be complacent setting our heart at 69% max cruise control. No! We must make demands of our bodies and then rest them to accomplish the “EXTREME” part in extreme calorie burning. This ride does exactly that!

Like “Anaerobic 3.5 Rain or Shine”, this is definitely one of my favourite videos from CVO. This ride covers 2 1/4 hours with the first half being some solid intervals on shorter climbs with the second half being recovery. There is fantastic narration from Paul Gallas as he tours around Reno. Be sure to get both videos in this set and use them together in one ride, you will NOT be disappointed!

This is a favorite go-to video for me when I went to go long. At over 2 hours in length I can cycle through some great terrain. I’ve been there in person so I feel at home on the ride. There are various effort levels on the ride, with hills, flat stretches and winding roads. The accompanying dialog helps the time pass while I go for a ride with my virtual be” friend.” Cyclingvideosonline produces some great videos. I will be ordering more of them.
